چکیده

The purpose of this paper is to discuss interprocess communication in the context of Windows 2000 and UNIX (Berkeley UNIX, System V, and SunOS). Special emphasis will be given to the system mechanisms that are involved with the creation, management, and use of named pipes and sockets. There will also be a discusssion of remote procedure calls and signals in the context of the UNIX environment. Abstract 1

IPC SAP A Family of Object-Oriented Interfaces for Local and Remote Interprocess Communication

This is part of a series that describes techniques for encapsulating existing operating system (OS) interprocess communication (IPC) mechanisms within object-oriented C++ wrappers. This paper focuses on the IPC SAP (“InterProcess Communication Service Access Point”) C++ class categories. IPC SAP provides applications with a family of object-oriented service access points that encapsulate standa...

Performance Analysis of Various Mechanisms for Inter-process Communication

Unix-based operating systems feature several forms of Inter-Process Communication (IPC) including pipes, Unix domain sockets, TCP/IP sockets, FIFOs, semaphores, and signals. Although these mechanisms provide similar services, each is designed differently with varying levels of performance. To better understand how these mechanisms work and why they perform the way they do, their implementations...

Inter-process Communication, Analysis, Guidelines and Its Impact on Computer Security

In this paper we look at the inter-process communication (IPC) also known as inter-thread or inter-application communication from other knowledge sources. We will look and analyze the different types of IPC in the Microsoft Windows operating system, their implementation and the usefulness of this kind of approach in the terms of communication between processes. Only local implementation of the ...

Systems Programming with C++ Wrappers Encapsulating Interprocess Communication Mechanisms with Object-Oriented Interfaces

This article is the first in a series that describes techniques for encapsulating operating system (OS) interprocess communication (IPC) mechanisms within object-oriented (OO) C++ wrappers. These OS mechanisms include support for both local-host IPC (such as semaphores; message queues; shared memory; memory-mapped files; named, unnamed, and STREAM pipes; and BSD UNIX-domain sockets) and network...

IPC SAP C++ Wrappers for Efficient, Portable, and Flexible Network Programming

This paper describes object-oriented (OO) techniques for encapsulating OS interprocess communication (IPC) mechanisms with C++ wrappers. The paper focuses on the C++ wrappers provided by the IPC SAP components in the ACE framework [2]. ACE is a collection of reusable C++ class libraries and OO framework components that simplify the development of portable, high-performance and real-time communi...
